Kavya

Undergraduate student ambassador award winner.

Why did you get involved in physics outreach activity at university?

I enjoy teaching complex physics concepts to younger students and helping them realise that with a little effort, the concepts are not complex at all!

How have you benefitted from your physics outreach work, both professionally and personally?

The fulfilment I get from inspiring students to pursue physics is unmatched; sharing the joy of understanding something that once seemed far fetched is what motivates me to do more.

What hints or tips would you give to other students who are thinking of getting involved in outreach?

Being honest and open about your experiences is the best way to inspire others!

“Kavya has shown himself time and again to be able to explain physics in a clear and concise way. He has the confidence to be able to deliver content and hold an audience’s attention particularly when working with a younger students. Seeing a need for more understanding of a particular area Kavya volunteered to help develop a Python coding session with very little notice and delivered it exceptionally well, showing adaptability and once again the ability to be calm under pressure. Working with a group of young students explaining about black holes. Kavya injected energy and enthusiasm that captivated the students as he ran the interactive session whilst at the same time weaving the story of black holes. Great to watch and be part of.”
