Davina Nwachukwu

Postgraduate student ambassador award winner.

Why did you get involved in physics outreach activity at university?

When I was in secondary school, I was discouraged from pursuing STEM. Physics was presented to me as something I would never be able to grasp. But I was stubborn, and I am now in my first year of my PhD in theoretical physics. It was a difficult journey to get here, constantly believing that the subject was out of reach, but now I can see that it is not as impossible as it first appears. This is why I started doing outreach to show younger students the same thing. I want to show how physics can be accessible, and ensure that no one is steered away from exploring it.

“Davina is a very good communicator, with audiences immediately engaging with her. Her positivity alongside her thorough and diligent attitude make her a huge asset to any team. Davina is a real ambassador, for herself, for her department and for all of physics.”
