School partnerships
Our final cohort of school partnerships started in September 2025.
Since 2005, the programme has supported schools to work together to strengthen physics teaching, learning and engagement. Partnerships focus on:
- teacher professional development to improve the teaching of physics and empower teachers to inspire their students to take physics further
- the wider learning environment, including support for technicians and teaching assistants, and investment in physics learning spaces and resources.
- purposeful enrichment through family and community engagement, and networking with local employers to provide a broader range of physics experiences for pupils.
Partnerships have been established in areas of socio-economic disadvantage across England, bringing schools together to develop sustainable approaches to improving physics education.
The School Partnerships programme is no longer open to new schools or partnerships. Existing partnerships will continue to receive support and funding throughout their five-year partnership journey.
The partnership approach
A school partnership comprises schools across primary and secondary education and may also include specialist provision and all-through schools.
Each partnership is led by a co-ordinating school, which acts as the main point of contact with The Ogden Trust. Lead schools manage partnership funding and support collaborative activity designed to improve the teaching and learning of physics across participating schools.
Partnerships receive funding, dedicated support from regional representatives, and access to professional development opportunities throughout their five-year partnership cycle.
Current and prospective schools
The School Partnerships programme is now in its final phase, and no further partnerships will be established.
Our current Leading Physics Improvement programme may be of interest to schools who want to work with The Ogden Trust.
- Secondary schools in selected priority areas (subject to eligibility criteria)
- Large school trusts (subject to eligibility criteria)
