Remotely Operated Vehicle Testing
Enshore Subsea
Remotely Operated Vehicle Development and Performance Testing
What is the project:
Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) are used to work in deep sea infrastructure projects. They are a vital part of subsea inspection, installation, and maintenance operations.
You will be investigating how design choices impact buoyancy, stability, propulsion, and structural integrity in subsea environments. This will be done by assembling components, assessing functionality, and evaluating performance during tests.
How this project is useful:
Testing and building an ROV provides Enshore with an opportunity to examine engineering principles in a controlled environment while encouraging innovation and skills development.
Project outcome:
- Written report summarising design decisions, testing data and performance outcomes
- Identify strengths, limitations, and potential improvements to the ROV’s design
Project type:
Design and making
Key skills:
- Data analysis
- Designing
- CAD
- Research
- Problem Solving

On site at:
Enshore Subsea, South Harbour, Blyth, NE24 3PB
