Implementing a battery system within an office
As our planet develops, our electricity usage ramps up. To help “clean energy” keep up with our power demand, TECOSIM is interested in implementing a battery system into one of their key offices. The battery can then recharge when the demand for electricity is a lot lower, rather than using electricity when there is a high demand for it. If more companies and households implement such systems, energy suppliers’ need for non-renewable energy stations will be reduced as the supply from renewables will be enough to satisfy every user.
This project is to investigate viability of implementing a battery system into one of TECOSIM’s key offices located in Basildon. Researching the market to find out what products are available and comparing specifications of said products to see what will match the requirements of the office. Considerations would include working out the office’s power usage throughout the week, comparing these values to battery sizes to decide what battery size is best suited to supply the office throughout the day. Looking at the cost of implementing chosen products and how savings could be made. How long will the battery take to pay back for itself? Looking at maintenance requirements and other costs that must be considered. Other aspects of the project include alternatives to a battery system that could achieve the same/similar effect, drawbacks of using a battery system, use of products to increase feasibility of battery system.
You will present your findings in a report and in a presentation to key stakeholders.
