Opportunity Mapping: The Unsung Heroes of Offshore Wind

There a many jobs available in the Offshore Wind Energy industry. However, most people (especially young people thinking about their career options) don’t know how wide a range of roles are available, so might (wrongly) think there is not a place for them in Offshore Wind. If the Offshore Wind Energy industry is to keep growing how much energy it can produce, we need to help more people to find their place in the Offshore Wind Energy industry.

Aims:

You will gather information on all of the job opportunities in Offshore Wind. You will then produce a pack of profiles for young people highlighting the lesser-known careers in Offshore Wind and the pathways to get into these careers. and hopefully help young people understand the full breadth of opportunity and inspire them to follow a career in Offshore Wind. The aim of this project is to map out the wide range of roles in both the Maritime and Operations & Maintenance teams and the support functions that surround them.

This could be in the form of case studies, videos, podcasts, whatever the interns feel suitable. This information will then be used to share with schools, colleges, careers advisors etc. to help inspire the next generation of Offshore Wind Workforce.

To do this you will:

• Perform site visits and interview sessions.
• Produce a package of information, aimed at young people thinking about their future careers.

This is a team project.
