Seabed Scour Control Systems manufacture artificial seagrass mats for the offshore industry. Manufacturing these mats is currently a very labour-intensive process. The aim of this project is to investigate modern methods of manufacture and automation possibilities. This will help to reduce the labour costs, reduce waiting times, and speed up the manufacturing process.
With the support of the Subsea manager, you will research modern manufacturing processes, design a bespoke system for SSCS, and provide a costing for your solution. You will share your results in a report written for the company.

Seabed Scour Control Systems (SSCS) was founded almost 40 years ago on the invention of artificial seagrass also known as the “Frond Mat”. The Frond Mat mimics natural seagrass to prevent erosion of the seabed around subsea assets such as Pipelines, Cables, Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations and more. The Frond Mats have been installed in almost every sea and ocean around the globe.
