Alternative solution for Fall Arrest equipment within the Renewables sector
Alternative Solution for Fall Arrest Equipment Within the Renewables Sector
Maintenance teams keep wind turbines generating electricity. This involves working at height, so they need safety equipment to reduce the risk of falls, this includes fall arrest equipment.
The renewable industry is reliant on a single supplier of fall arrest equipment. This means that getting fall arrest equipment fixed or replaced can delay maintenance work.
Aims:
- Identify an alternative supplier of fall arrest equipment, including alternatives to the usual products
- Check alternative suppliers’ products are compatible with the attachment points on wind turbines.
- Determine how commercially viable it would be to use the above alternative products
To do this you will:
- Understand the attachment structures and fixings for fall arrest equipment on wind turbines
- Perform market research into fall arrest products and the supply chain which supplies them
- Potentially design/sketch an interface bracket between the attachment point on the wind turbine and the product selected during the project
