Building for a Sustainable World
Building for a Sustainable World
At Kier, our purpose is to sustainably deliver infrastructure which is vital to the UK. We have developed a framework called Building for a Sustainable World (BfaSW) which focuses on 3 pillars – Our people, Our Places and Our Planet. This includes using software to analyse the carbon footprint of all the materials and processes that go into a construction project.
Aims:
To apply BfaSW to the construction of a new building for East Coast College.
To do this you will:
You will work with an environmental adviser to analyse the carbon footprint of the East Coast College build. You will work with other professionals onsite to factor in other considerations that need to be considered when trying to reduce carbon footprint, such as safety.
You will produce a written report and create an interactive learning activity to help share your findings with the wider team.
