Energy Sector Career Pathways – Digital Guide & Outreach Toolkit

EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) wants to enable the growth of the energy sector in the East of England whilst providing opportunities for local young people to be part of this growth.

To do this, we need to identify which skills young people will need to develop. We also need to know how we can better reach young people to make them aware of career opportunities and how to access them.

Aims:

The interns will research and create a digital guide and outreach toolkit aimed at young people in Norfolk, using case studies to show career pathways in the region’s energy sector (offshore wind, hydrogen, carbon capture, onshore renewables, oil and gas, decommissioning and nuclear).

EEEGR will then be able to attract young people into the energy industry through schools’ outreach, careers fairs and online engagement. The resource should highlight the development of different careers, difficulties faced and how to overcome them. It should also provide a youth-driven perspective on career messaging and how accessible information is to young people entering the sector.

By choosing a company from key industry sectors to focus on, the interns will research and present what opportunities are available and possible career pathways into that industry, providing valuable data to contribute to EEEGR’s ongoing skills work.

To do this you will:

• Research EEEGR members’ career pathways coastal energy sector, including interviews.
• Produce a Digital Career Guide. Including:
  • An overview of energy sectors in the East of England.
  • Step-by-step guides on career pathways (apprenticeships, university routes, industry training).
  • Interactive elements (e.g. quizzes, infographics, videos).
• Develop and present a 15-minute presentation for use in school talks.
• Produce a toolkit of social media posts and posters to promote career opportunities.
