Design and Manufacture of a Fire Nozzle

Climate change, and how industries are responding to it, is changing the materials people work with. This is changing the fires that they might need to fight, for example lithium-ion batteries, which are vital to many low carbon technologies but are made of highly flammable materials. So, we need to continue to update our fire-fighting equipment.

Aims:

Report on the design of a new fire nozzle in response to changes in the fires people need to fight.

To do this you will:

• Shadow staff from multiple departments, including engineering
• Research changing industry needs and how this influences the design of fire-fighting equipment
• Produce a report (to CREST criteria) based on your findings
