Data-Driven Analysis of Offshore Geotechnical Survey Drilling
Data-Driven Analysis of Offshore Geotechnical Survey Drilling
Data-Driven Analysis of Offshore Geotechnical Survey Drilling
Building structures offshore requires an understanding of the seabed the structures are being built on. To study the seabed, NextGeo drills into it to collect data and samples of the sea floor at various depths to create a 3D model of the sea floor.
Drilling into the seabed from a ship can be challenging; bad weather, equipment malfunctions and different soils in the seabed can all slow down drilling. We want to better understand the patterns in these delays so we can reduce them.
Aims:
We need you to help us develop digital tools to analyse data from our drilling operations using Microsoft Excel. These tools should feed into a dashboard which will allow our drilling teams to better plan their operations despite unexpected conditions.
To do this you will:
- Perform statistical analysis of drilling logs and productivity reports, including Correlation studies between production rate, soil conditions, weather, and personnel
- Develop Excel tools (including macros) for automate real-time data extraction and analysis
- Provide data-driven insights to support the optimisation of offshore operations
Key skills:
- Microsoft Office
- Research
- Problem solving
- Data analysis
- Engineering
- Planning
- Self-motivation
Host company information:
NextGeo provides offshore geophysical, geotechnical, environmental, and Unexploded Ordnance surveys to create models of the seabed and subsurface. The information is used by NextGeo’s clients to install, develop and maintain offshore infrastructure for the renewables energy sector. Using state of the art underwater technology, NextGeo help clients design safe, efficient, and sustainable projects while ensuring environmental protection and risk management.
