Selection of Energy Sources for Offshore Platforms
Aquaterra Energy is looking to streamline equipment selection and power generation for new platforms through a spreadsheet tool. It should prioritise renewable energy options, aligning with the company’s sustainability goals and enhance operational efficiency, ensuring optimal power solutions while reducing the carbon footprint.
The intern will develop a spreadsheet tool to enable a user to select equipment and hence load requirements for a new platform and automatically provide a selection of power generation options to meet the demand, with renewable power generation being first choice where possible. During the project, there will be research and data collection to identify key pieces of equipment, calculate the energy requirements from various pieces of equipment, and investigate what power sources could be used on the platform.
At the end of the project, you will prepare: a project report outlining the project remit, activities carried out and project outcomes (Word); a Power Generation Selection Tool (Excel) and a project presentation summarising the report and demonstrating the tool (PowerPoint).
This could be a team project.
