GallifordTry

Track and monitor a mechanical and electrical construction project to examine opportunities to improve health and safety procedures.

Health and Safety in Construction Project Planning

Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) coordination is all about detecting and resolving clashes among trades – architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems.

The intern will track and monitor the progress of the high-level installation of M&E services and learn about how each system is installed, tested and commissioned. Utilising the BIM and Dalux models the student will get the opportunity to review the proposals and help identify any clashes between the systems. The construction activities we expect during the summer are the JDR cable factory, the Energy Central Learning Hub in Blyth and the new Great Park secondary school in Newcastle.

At the start of the placement, we will offer the intern a short term programme of planned works and request they monitor the progress of each system proving progress each week.
