Shadow and aid in adapting houses to increase their energy efficiency rating
Retrofitting homes to improve energy efficiency
This project focuses on the process of installing energy efficiency measures on a domestic property to achieve the EPC rating C.
The intern will shadow Bernicia’s Retrofit Team and Environmental Sustainability officer to gain insight in the process of retrofitting a domestic property start to finish. This will include understanding property data, such as EPCs, renewable technologies, such as Solar Panels and Air Source Heat Pumps, and the overall retrofit installation.
The intern will follow a Bernicia property from the beginning of the process to the completed retrofitted home. They will investigate why the energy efficiency measures have been chosen, how the technology works and what will be the overall benefits to this work being completed. The intern will have the opportunity to work with external contractors and visit site to learn about the process and technologies in person.
The intern should create a case study process map of how to take the example property to an energy efficiency rating C.
