North Star
Document the company’s history and create infographics of their innovations.
Powered by Innovation – the Student Voice
North Star are always looking at evolving our vessels through innovation to better the next generation to make our vessels much more desirable and to improve workability and operation.
This project will give the intern a unique opportunity to understand what goes on behind the scenes at North Star Shipping. You will explore how innovation has been a key driver in providing a safe, capable, and efficient pathway to delivering leading edge SOV’s (Service Operation Vessels) to the offshore renewable energy industry. Part of this overall package includes designing and delivering the Daughter Craft built in the region.
Importantly we are keen to understand how this is viewed through the eyes of our next generation. The “Student Voice” will be core to our future workforce. You will consider how STEM subjects studied at college underpin future careers when applied in the real world. Whilst this is a very wide brief, the intern will focus on three key innovations to illustrate milestones on the journey.
During the project, you will conduct background research into the history of North Star Renewables. You will be able to do this through desk-based research and interviewing key individuals from the business. You will present your findings in a report detailing the history of North Star Renewables. You will also identify three innovative ideas which have been taken from design to delivery by the company. You will create an infographic to show how these innovations have been applied and overview the science behind them. You will also have the chance to visit some of our vessels.
This is a team project.
