Coordinate Measuring Machine Manual Testing Audit
A number of manual tests are run on our in-house co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and there are documented procedures for running these tests. This documentation has been updated recently and needs to be audited to make sure it is complete and also easy to follow by someone with no prior knowledge of the testing procedures. We would also like the intern to suggest improvements to the testing processes.
The project will involve learning about how metrology is used in manufacturing, and how probing is used to measure complex parts during quality control. It will also involve learning how to operate the CMM machines safely and correctly.
