Windcat Workboats
Collect and analyse data to minimise the time that vessels aren't used.
Understanding and Monitoring Vessel Utilisation
Windcat Workboats operates its fleet of vessels to transfer personnel to and from offshore facilities. Our vessels are a valuable asset, and it is important that we use them efficiently. This means that we must capture data as to how and when they are used to get the most value out of our fleet.
This project aims to develop a process for tracking and analysing vessel time, with a focus on the non-operational or “downtime”. You will be supported over the course of your investigation into aspects such as establishing current systems, reviewing data collection and usage, interviews with key staff, and researching potential new systems which could increase efficiency.
This project will require you to collaborate with the various departments across Windcat Workboats and its current systems. You will develop a database that is as self-sufficient as possible to show the vessels’ usage. You should also create a report detailing your findings and consider ways to share your results with critical employees.
