Create a design for automated subsea control module testing to help reduce human errors and speed up testing
Subsea Control Module Test Stand Instrumentation
Proserv manufactures subsea control modules (SCMs) as part of their subsea control system offering.
As part of the test process SCMs are mounted onto SCM test stands (SCMTS) for hydraulic and electrical function testing. The SCMTS provides feedback to the Test Technician via pressure gauges mounted on the front of the SCMTS, the displayed values of which are manually recorded in the test procedure. To remove the time and scope for error in manually recording the values, it is proposed to add transmitters and displays to the SCMTS hydraulic lines that will provide clearly displayed, accurate, and potentially automatically recorded pressure values.
Working with the SCM product team, the objectives of the project are to understand the purpose of SCMTS, their gauges and the limitations, the design an alternative instrument setup for the SCMTS. This alternative design should be properly investigated, with parts and suppliers identified and costed. A CAD schematic drawing of the new SCMTS should be created, which will then be presented with the rest of the findings in a technical report and a presentation.
