Design, build and test a simulated railway crossing using specialist CAD software and electrical engineering skills.
Railway Crossing Simulator
Proeon Systems designs and develops new systems for its clients, who include companies in the energy sector, to help them make the most of modern technology. One of these requests is for a new railway crossing.
For this project, you will design, build, and test a railway crossing simulator based on the user’s requirements. This will include hardware and software design using specialist equipment. The design process will include creating electrical schematics, input/output schedules, and a functional design specification.
Once the design has been approved, the interns will manufacture a test enclosure to house the PLC and various inputs and outputs. The enclosure will then be put through its paces using Proeon’s standard method of testing before the software is downloaded into the PLC. A full functional test will then be carried out.
This project will provide the interns with hands-on, practical experience to gain an understanding of how we work, from the initial enquiry and user requirements through to producing a completed prototype. During this process, the interns will have access to most of the departments within Proeon Systems to ensure they understand the processes and how the company works.
