Aquaterra Energy
Create a tool to help decide how an offshore rig should be powered.
Energy Sources for Offshore Platforms
The intern will get to learn how offshore platforms operate, and what equipment and facilities are on them. You will also get to meet key personnel in the Platforms and Structures team whose expertise you can use to help with the project.
This project will involve some research and data collation into key pieces of equipment on a platform, how much electrical power is required for different sizes and types of equipment, and the types and sizes of electrical power generation equipment.
The intern will develop a spreadsheet tool to allow a user to select equipment and power requirements for a new platform. This will automatically provide a selection of power generation options to meet the demand, with renewable power generation being first choice where possible.
At the end of the project, the intern will share their work which will be the working spreadsheet, a written report, and a presentation demonstrating how the tool works.
