Design a careers stand to help recruit people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Designing a Careers Stand
At the end of 2020, ABP was invited to join the Diversity in Maritime (Women in Maritime) Charter programme. ABP’s ports in Southampton and East Anglia will initially be a part of the programme, with a long-term intention of other locations joining.
To go along with our charter, we need to design adverts and a careers stand that will attract a diverse range of candidates to meet our recruitment goals. We need to be able to show everyone the variety of careers that our company can offer, and that ABP is an attractive employer which provides many benefits to its employees.
You should consider ways to make our stand unique and stand out from the crowd by considering things such as promotional materials, interactive activities, or virtual options. You will also need to develop ways of following up with people who are interested in working for us and ways to evaluate how successful the stand is in attracting a diverse range of candidates. This can be done by researching ways that other organisations have made successful recruitment activities or by gathering data on what makes an attractive careers stand.

About the host company
ABP Lowestoft is Britain’s most easterly port and is one of the strategic centres for the energy sector with significant investment being made in port infrastructure.
It’s the closest port to the East Anglia Offshore Wind Farm Zone, which is 10 miles offshore and covering 600,000 hectares. The Port is also home to the operations and maintenance (O&M) facility for the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind farm and East Anglia One Windfarm.
In addition, Lowestoft offers extensive facilities focused on supporting the offshore oil and gas industries. The Port is ideally situated to support the Southern North Sea oil and gas fields with an extensive supply chain of service providers. Along with fabrication and installation capabilities we also offer dry dock and slipway services.
