4C Offshore

Work on technology to build and maintain offshore windfarms built on floating platforms.

Floating Offshore Wind

4C has a small team dedicated to floating offshore wind – technology that allows wind turbines to be installed on floating platforms at sea, typically in water depths greater than 60 meters.

The project will consist of researching the current status of a specific floating wind market. The precise topic will be determined at the time but will be one of:

  • Assessment of the competitive dynamics of the project pipeline in a key floating wind market (e.g. UK/France/APAC)
  • Floater Design and fabrication
  • Anchors and mooring
  • Operations & Maintenance

Undertaking the project will offer work experience in the growing renewables industry, as well as a foundational understanding on new technologies and procedures within the offshore wind sector. This is ideal for someone interested in working or pursuing a degree in engineering, physics, politics, economics, finance, or similar.

Key skills and interests

  • Keen to learn
  • Interest in engineering and/or policy and government
  • Well organised
  • Numerical skills
  • Proactive and can work independently
  • Focused on delivering results
