A new home for Explorify
Published: 30 June 2021
Many of you will be familiar with Explorify, Wellcome’s free digital tool for primary teachers. As Wellcome moves into its new strategy focused on health, it has been seeking a new home for Explorify. We are delighted to support a new partnership that sees Explorify continue under the management of STEM Learning and the Primary Science Teaching Trust. The partnership is supported by the Trust and by the Glasgow Science Centre.
“We are really pleased to support this new partnership between STEM Learning and the Primary Science Teaching Trust that has ensured the future of Explorify,” says Clare Harvey, Chief Executive of The Ogden Trust. “Their ethos and resources resonate with our aims to encourage questioning and curiosity in primary science. Explorify resources provide valuable support and ideas to help teachers in their delivery of primary science. We are looking forward to supporting Explorify as it settles into its new home!”
In the new Explorify partnership, STEM Learning provides the digital expertise to ensure that the product stays safe and up to date. STEM Learning and the Primary Science Teaching Trust will continue to develop and disseminate Explorify content, and will work together to encourage teachers and science leaders to access high-quality resources and to engage in pathways of excellent professional development.
Both STEM Learning and the Primary Science Teaching Trust are looking forward to this fresh opportunity to work together, and with other organisations across the sector, to foster excellence in primary science teaching.
We expect the transition to take place in mid-September, and Explorify will continue to be free to use for UK teachers. We look forward to welcoming existing and new users to Explorify in its new home, and to a successful future making science exciting, intriguing and fun for young people.
Designed by teachers for teachers and evidence-informed, Explorify supports teachers in teaching science confidently and inspiring pupils. It is packed with exciting activities and resources which make science accessible to all, inspiring scientific enquiry and thinking skills. Explorify delivers proven impact for pupils and teachers. And there are resources, tips and guidance to support science subject leaders.
