One of the central events of the York Partnership is the Physics Olympics for Year 8 students, which is held annually at St Peter’s School, York and now attracts teams from 35 schools across the region. In 2016, the competition celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Since 2010, St Peter’s has also hosted an annual Science Technicians’ Conference, which attracts up to 90 technicians and a Public Lecture Series, which attracts audiences of up to 400 people and which in the past year has covered Nuclear Fusion, The Birth of the Solar System, Engineering in Your Imagination, Solar Powered Car Technology, Life off Earth and Ripples from the Big Bang.

In 2014, we held the inaugural York Schools Science Quiz for year 11 and 12 students. The competition is now about to enter its fourth year and the quiz is a shared resource with all the other Ogden partnership schools.

In January each year, we hold a Stargazing Live Party in partnership with York University Physics Department and York Astronomical Society. The evening is a family event and includes an exhibition, lecture and stargazing.
