John Best

Energy Coast Internships

John set up Best Proactive to act as a consultant to businesses primarily in the Offshore Renewable Energy Sector. Having previously worked for James Fisher & Sons plc, as Head of Sustainable Energy, he still maintains strong links and is retained to lead Special Projects.

John formed and ran EEEGR as its Chief Executive, from April 2001, leaving in March 2012 after 11 years. In that time, it grew to over 370 members. Skills for Energy was a central theme of the work. As part of engaging with and seeking to inspire young people he became a STEM Ambassador.

John’s work for the Ogden Trust will be to assist forming the vital links with business necessary to help facilitate the placement of students into the East Coast Energy Internship Programme. This work is one element of a partnership between the Royal Academy of Engineering, The Ogden Trust and Suffolk County Council in association with Waveney District Council. The placement will help students aged about 17/18 to secure a real and meaningful four week project this summer to work with the Energy Industry located on the East Coast of England utilising their STEM Skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
