Ogden University Science Officers and School Teacher Fellows are part-funded by The Ogden Trust to help co-ordinate, run and evaluate science outreach work at schools and universities. They are normally based within an Ogden Science Partnership, either in a university department or at a hub school. A School Teacher Fellow will typically be a qualified teacher; the Trust will fund outreach work or research, which they will do in conjunction with their teaching post.
Science Officers and Teacher Fellows organise and administer the Schools Physicist of the Year Awards (A-Level)and may be asked to represent the Trust at external events.
Science Officers can nominate postgraduate, PhD and post-doctoral students for the Scientists in Schools programme; a limited number of these placements are available each year to those wishing to become physics school teachers. Science Officers who wish to nominate someone for such an award should contact Tim Simmons.
If you are a university or school who is interested in expanding your science outreach capacity and wish to seek funding for a Science Officer or School Teacher Fellow, contact Tim Simmons, Chief Executive, to discuss possible options: 01223 761843.
