The Ogden Trust supports a number of initiatives, programmes and projects designed to promote the teaching and learning of physics. It offers financial support to individuals considering or embarking on a career as a physics teacher and to projects that enhance physics education:
- Teach Physics Internships are available to undergraduates in their 2nd year and above who are considering a physics teaching career
- Scientist in School placements are available to postgraduates, PhD and post-doctoral students wishing to become physics teachers; a communications training course is also being trialled for early-career researchers
- PGCE Physics Scholarships are available to support students undertaking a physics PGCE course; this includes an additional £500 to spend on a physics education project at their first school
- Ogden Educational Consultant James de Winter has created a useful guide about the availabe routes to becoming a physics teacher
All of the schemes are subject to availability and set criteria.
