Teach Physics Internships

The Ogden Trust Teach Physics internships are aimed at 2nd, 3rd and 4th year undergraduates who are considering a physics teaching career and take place in selected state secondary schools between the end of the university year and the end of the school summer term. They are usually of 4-5 weeks' duration. There are currently 14 schools involved in the scheme.

The object of the placements is to give the candidates an experience of teaching and broader school life which is an important pre-requisite for obtaining a PGCE place or other funded route into teaching.

The Ogden Trust makes a one-off administrative payment to the host school to cover Criminal Records Bureau checks and other administration, and the interns receive a training grant based on £50 per completed day. They are required to keep a diary for submission at the end of their placement and to write a report on an educational topic of their choice which they have been able to research during their internship.

Applications have now closed for the 2012 Teach Physics internships - news of the 2013 programme will be published in the New Year. Appointments are normally made by mid-March to allow sufficient time for the CRB clearance and induction of successful applicants.

Teach Physics interns who have completed their placements with a positive school reference are eligible to apply for PGCE scholarships.
