Undergraduate Science Scholarships

The Ogden Trust sponsors students of outstanding scientific ability wishing to read for a Physics degree at a leading British university.  Ogden Trust Undergraduate Science Scholarships are currently open to the following categories of candidate:

  •        Ogden Trust 6th Form Science Scholarship holders
  •        Ogden Physics prize winners nominated by specialist schools sponsored by the Trust
  •        Arkwright Scholars sponsored by the Trust
  •        Annual Schools Physicists of the Year sponsored by The Ogden Trust
  •        Students nominated by Ogden Science Partnership schools and physics hub schools 
  •        Students who have participated in the annual Cambridge Ogden Physics Symposium
  •        Students who have participated in an Extreme Physics course sponsored by The Ogden
           Trust    

The scholarships are currently worth £1,500 per annum for up to four years of undergraduate study and are payable in two annual instalments (October and February).

Criteria for candidates:

  • Previously educated entirely in the state sector *
  • Minimum 340 points at A-level (equivalent A, A, B) in their three principal subjects including grade A in Maths or Physics**
  • Applying to read for a recognised Physics degree, including Natural Sciences (Physical)
  • Joint gross parental income of less than £50k ***
  • British nationality

*          Unless: attending an independent school on an Ogden Trust 6th Form Science Scholarship; a regional Young Physicist of the Year; or a participant in an Extreme Physics course, sponsored by the Ogden Trust

**         Depending on the number of applications each year, this academic threshold may rise

***       Candidates whose joint parental income is under £60k will be considered if (a) both parents working (b) one or more siblings
