Abdul-Hannan Ali, MACE, Queen Elizabeth High School, Middleton
Abdul-Hanaan has given general class support, such as helping revision classes and experiments, and providing more detailed information to more inquisitive students. He has also given presentations of key concepts taught in class, taken group tutorials and developed work sheets. He has found the group sessions, especially with the younger pupils, to be most productive.
 
Farzana Aslam, Physics and Astronomy, St.Peters RC High School, Longsight
Farzana completed an MPhil in Laser and Quantum Physics and MSc in Physics, both from Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan. Her first degree was a BSc in Science from the University of Punjab in Lahore. She has provided general support in maths classes, created quizzes and fun activities and tutored a group of early examination entry year 10 students.
 
Benjamin Corris, Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, Newall Green High School, Wythenshawe
Benjamin has spent most of his time working with year 9 students working towards their SATs, helping them use the internet as an effective tool, stretching brighter pupils and providing extra support to weaker pupils as well as giving general classroom support. He also led a trip to the university, which encouraged some of the pupils to consider applying, a few of whom indicated that they would choose to study physical sciences.
 
John Glover, Mathematics, Rosebridge High School, Wigan
 
Pele Odiase, Computer Science, The King David High School, Manchester
Pele has made class presentations and is running a lunchtime computer club. Both have been successful with requests for repeat presentations and moves to make the computer classes an optional module in the school curriculum. He has also supported maths classes, helped physics experiments and has improved his ability to pass on knowledge effectively.
 
Yemisi Shobowale, Electrical Engineering & Electronics, North Manchester High School for Girls
Yemisi has built a series of demonstrations to help illustrate scientific principles, devised fun puzzles and experiments and taught some topics. She also gave a presentation on her research (wireless communication) as part of a career talk. Her personal skills have improved and she has created an appreciation for physics amongst the pupils she has taught.
 
Lei Amber Wang, Electrical Engineering & Electronics, Whalley Range High School, Manchester
Lei has been mainly involved with years 10 and 11, she has provided general class support, presented her research (neural networks) in classes and science club, taught the whole class some topics, assisted practical work, helped develop class materials and provided the chance for girls to get in touch with university life.
 
Sarad Yaqub, MACE / Alhussein Albarber, MACE, Burnage High School
Sarad was forced to withdraw from the scheme after two terms due to pressures of work, he has been replaced by Alhussein.
