Inaugural Ogden physics PGCE scholarship awards
On Friday 19 August the inaugural Ogden physics PGCE scholarship awards were made to 21 candidates in three categories:
- The Bill Ramsay Awards at Hughes Hall for mature entrants to physics teaching: two awards each of £5,000
- Other career changers nominated by their PGCE course directors: seven awards of £4,000; five at Oxford, two at Durham
- Recent graduates nominated by Ogden University Science Officers for their outreach work or who have successfully completed Ogden Teach Physics internships: fourteen awards of £2,500; three at Liverpool Hope, two at Cambridge, one each at Keele, Leeds, Bristol, King's London, Sussex, Birmingham, Manchester, Bath and St Martin's Cumbria.
An Ogden Physics Teaching Fellowship Award of £2,500 has also been made to Julie Huckstep, a recent Cambridge PGCE student entering Samuel Ward School, Haverhill, in September.
All the above candidates will also be able to claim a grant of £500 during their first year of qualified practice to organise a physics enhancement event or activity at their school.
