Coventry & Warwickshire Schools Physicists of the Year

A total of nineteen sixth form students studying AS-Levels were named Coventry and Warwickshire Physicists of the Year at an event held at the University of Warwick's Physics Lecture Theatre in June. Ogden School Teacher Fellow, Ally Caldecote, based in the Department of Physics said "These are the people who could be pushing back the boundaries of science and making mind-blowing discoveries in the next generation.  They really could be the leading scientists of tomorrow.  It's been an absolute privilege to honour them all."

The winners, who were all nominated by their teachers, were given a certificate and a £25 book voucher each, along with a suggested list of science books to stimulate their curiosity even further.  The prizes were presented by Professor Malcolm Cooper, head of physics at Warwick University (pictured left).  Professor Tony Arber gave an inspiring talk to the students telling them the coming years will be a very exciting time to be a physicist.
