MP joins Ogden students to highlight science at Reed's School
Former Science Minister and Esher and Walton MP Ian Taylor hosted a lunch at Reed's School, Surrey on 19 March 2010 as part of an initiative to raise the profile of science and engineering. Organised by Richard Garrett, Development Director of Reed's School, the event was attended by the school's first sixth form mathematics and science scholars, Molly Botelho and Tim Mackworth-Praed, both sponsored by The Ogden Trust.
Mr Taylor said "I am delighted to be supporting Reed's School in this venture, particularly because of the school's charitable ethos, but also because the aim of the project is to create opportunities in these subjects across the educational spectrum. In order to address the skills gap and the inequality of resources in these areas of the curriculum, initiatives like this are very important."
Reed's School is hosting a brand new Physics in Engineering residential course from 25-28 October 2010 for over fifty year 9 students from local state schools. The course is devised by The Smallpeice Trust and sponsored by The Ogden Trust and half of the places will be filled by girls.
