Sir Peter receives Honorary Degree from University of Warwick
On Monday 13 July 2009 Sir Peter Ogden received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science from the University of Warwick conferred by Professor Stuart Palmer, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Sir Peter was introduced to the Congregation at the Butterworth Hall by Professor Malcolm Cooper, Head of the Department of Physics who described him as "a British philanthropist who has made a profound difference to the lives of individuals, to places of learning, and to society through his championship of education in the sciences in general and in physics in particular. By challenging our universities and schools to strive for excellence and openness in their admissions, he has shown that it is possible for philanthropists to bring about real improvements through education. Many hundreds of young people have benefited from the schemes set up by The Ogden Trust to attract young people into science."
