Ogden Trust honours Sir Cyril Smith
The Ogden Trust has recently paid tribute to Sir Cyril Smith, a patron of the Trust, at his 80th Birthday celebration and by donating a portrait of him to The National Liberal Club.
Sir Cyril Smith was mayor and later Liberal MP for Rochdale, home town of Ogden Trust chairman and founder SIr Peter Ogden. They also both attended the same school, Rochdale Grammar School for Boys. He was knighted in 1988.
In the past few years he has become a patron of The Ogden Trust, and the Trust has recently been able to honour Sir Cyril on two occasions, firstly in attending his 80th birthday party, and secondly by donating a painting acquired by the Trust to The National Liberal Club, pictured below.
