Ogden Summer Internships 2017

Apply now for the Ogden Summer Internships programme! The scheme is open to all Ogden undergraduates (including those in their final year and those at the end of a gap year (either pre- or post-university).

There are 60 internships available from 28 organisations with placements including research, outreach, and work in the commercial sector. There are some fantastic placements on offer, all designed to provide valuable experience and insight into possible careers or study avenues. The full programme of internships available can be found on the alumni database, together with information about how to apply.

Some of our research interns have been cited on published academic papers for their contribution, and the work of some of our commercial interns has been used to shape business practices beyond the period of their placement. Internship diaries from previous interns can be found online; although every internship is different, these diaries give a flavour of what to expect.

Andrew Briscoe, a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Liverpool, completed his internship at Daresbury Laboratory
“During the internship I faced many challenges which required me to act independently and think of creative solutions for unconventional problems. It was an awesome experience and I am hugely grateful to The Ogden Trust for providing me the opportunity to work at such a prestigious and world-leading establishment. The placement has reaffirmed my ambition to pursue a career in physics.”

All applications must be made through the Alumni Database. This year, the deadline for applications is Sunday March 12th.

If you have already found the perfect summer work experience or research project but don’t have the money to fund it, The Ogden Alumni internship programme includes a Create Your Own Internship which might be just the thing! Applications for this close on Sunday 9th April. Visit the alumni database for more information.

Florence Roberts completed an 8-week internship at the Institute of Cosmology & Gravitation at the University of Portsmouth
"I have really, really enjoyed working at the ICG this summer. This internship has boosted my confidence, my coding, my scientific writing, and my presenting skills...If any one is unsure about applying for an internship, I would tell them not to be and go for it! It has been a great experience and has opened my eyes to what the world of research is like. Thank you to the Ogden Trust and the ICG for making this happen!"
